Leucobasis puinave sp. nov. (Odonata: Coenagrionidae), a new damselfly species from Colombia with updated generic characterization

Abstract

Abstract. A new damselfly species, Leucobasispuinave sp. nov., is described from 9♂♂, 2♀♀ collected in Guainía department in eastern Colombia. This is the second known species of the genus Leucobasis, and it can be separated from L. candicans by its size and the main coloration of S7–10. We also provide some observations about the conservation status of both species.

Resumen. Se describe una nueva especie de libélula, Leucobasis puinave sp. nov., a partir de 9♂♂, 2♀♀ colectados en el departamento de Guainía, en el oriente de Colombia. Esta es la segunda especie conocida del género Leucobasis, y puede distinguirse de L. candicans por su tamaño y la coloración de los S7–10. Asimismo, se presentan algunas observaciones sobre el estado de conservación de ambas especies.
